Hey all! I figured this time I would have a more personal approach to this post and share with you what's been happening lately. Some of you have asked my why have there been a lack of posts for the past few weeks and I have very good reasons for it. Here's a quick update on what I've been doing lately :)
I guess you could say that this is the main reason I've been MIA-ing lately. The workload at uni has been piling up and I've never spent so much time in the library before. Deadlines are tight and just when you get a breather with completing one, the next deadline is right round the corner. Final year in Interior Architecture & Design is no joke. Everyone's up their game since second year and the pressure is on. I heard that the second semester gets better with deadlines? I sure hope that's the case cause man I miss my sleep.
If you ask me, the best time to be in Nottingham is during the first semester when term starts as it is a student city. This means great deals and events happen everywhere! One of the biggest event we have here is the annual Goose Fair which is technically just a fun fair but it's pretty exciting when you're in a small city. Everyone goes there and relive those childhood days. I'm a sucker for adrenaline so the rides are a big thumbs up for me (although we did sit on this ride which made us feel like crap but standing down there looking at the ride after, it did seem pretty slow and boring... what were we screaming about?).
Having been away from Notts for a year, the city has changed so much. There are so many new restaurants and bars here that it almost feels as though I've just moved here like I did 3 years ago. The council has really brought forward the city and made it pretty hipster I would say. No complains there, more food hunting for me!
After taking a year out in the industry for my placement, most of my friends have graduated but God bless me as I met a bunch of mates that are brilliantly cool. I won't go into details but just wanna do a quick shout out to you guys for the daily hangouts, late nights, site visits, chefs in the kitchen meals and library dates! :) Would not have pulled through the first semester this well without you guys, really.
As some of you may know, Halloween and Christmas are my favourite seasons of the year. For the longest of time I couldn't decide what to go as this year. I had bunny ears and cat ears in my closet as I got them for free from a previous party but I don't actually like going as animals as it somehow had the slutty impression, probably cause of what they said in Mean Girls but it sticks!
Anyway, I thought that if I really ended up not being able to think of something, I would just go as a cat but after scrolling through many videos and images, I ended up with the Half Skull. It seemed like there were quite a number of people who dressed up as this too this year (other than the thousands of Harley Quinn on the street). I'm not one who's good at makeup so it was a pretty big risk going as this on Halloween and not practicing at all but to my surprise, I think it went alright. It wasn't the best but at least wasn't a failure.
And of course, pumpkin carving sessions. I would say that the hardest part about it is not carving the pumpkin, but cleaning it! The amount of effort to dig and scrap out all the meat inside can really tire you out before you even get to the carving. Definitely worth it though, it's always nice to see the end product and know that it's something you made from scratch :)
I've been planning on where to go this December and after much research and thoughts, places started to slowly fall off the list and in the end, I've decided not to go anywhere as it is too expensive with the holidays being around the same time. I'll be in Germany as I was last year but I'm thinking of going somewhere in January instead? Perhaps a little treat hehh.
That's it for now. Do tune in to my instagram for more frequent updates. & let me know if you think I should do a monthly update or maybe a quarterly update instead? Till next time loves x
